Thursday, December 4th

Wow. I cannot believe it's been exactly one month since I've posted anything. It's been crazy for us here in the Carolinas.

We've had weddings all over the Southeast, football games in Clemson and we're still unpacking and organizing our house. Plus, Aubrey keeps stealing my camera and cord to sell stuff on eBay. Nice, but annoying. So, needless to say, I won't be able to post any pics today.

Anyway, we started decorating for Christmas this past weekend. Basically I didn't feel like painting and I thought we needed to do something pro-active. So, after we slept forever on Sunday, we darted out into the freezing cold rain and sloshed around in the mud and chose a Christmas tree.

I might be biased, but I think it's the most perfect tree ever. Actually, I just remembered that Aubrey send me a picture of just the tree from his phone. Kind of grainy, but you get the idea.

Since we bought it while it was pouring down rain, it took two full days for it to dry out. Aubrey finally wrestled it inside Tuesday night. He did a great job all by himself. I went home to Charlotte last night and pointed a lot while he put up the lights.

We did a little more decorating and plan to "trim the tree" completely on Sunday night. Our next time in the same city together. :(

I'm headed to Holiday Fair tomorrow with Mom. I'm sure I'll find a ton of new stuff for the house. I LOVE Holiday Fair. Once I get home on Saturday, I'll work on uploading new pictures of the place. My Christmas resolution is to be a better blogger.

Tuesday, November 4

Well, I have sucessfully located the camera cord. Lucky you.
It all started Wednesday, 10/22. Steve accompanied me to pick up my new car seeing as how my husband was in Charlotte. Figures. Here I am helping us to go into MORE debt.

Just in time for the big pack-up. Here's what we did while the packers packed us.
Exactly. I was so stressed out all week and all we did on Friday (10/24) was sit. We thought we needed to be around to "help" the packers. But all we had to do was supervise. Basically we caught up on Tivo. Needless to say next time Michelin decides to move us, I am NOT taking the day off.

Here is the moving van that carefully transported all of our belongings to Chartown.

Our poor little apartment...

And then we were "moved". Please note the "guest room."

Maxie came to the new house on Sunday afternoon. He LOVES to "run up the stairs and then back down the stairs."

He does not, however, like it when I buy him holiday t-shirts in the Target baby department and take pictures of him wearing them. This one has a picture of a cute baby Frankenstein and says "Little Monster." Adorable.

Aubrey is thinking that I am the craziest person alive. The Pottery Barn outlet is my new addiction. I bought a new bed and two chests DURING our move to Charlotte. Ridiculous. We even had to RENT a truck to pick the stuff up. I know....

So this past Friday was Halloween and after I stopped by the Pottery Barn Outlet again and bought another chest (seriously, do they have Furniture Buyers Anonymous?), I finally made it home so we could carve the pumpkin for all the trick-or-treaters.
Aubrey and his piece de resistance....

Maxie is wearing his skunk hat. He hated it.

But not as much as he hated his devil costume. I'm starting to think he doesn't like playing dress up....

The next day (Saturday, 11/1) Steve, Grandad and Nana came to Charlotte to help us with various projects.

First on the list: installing the new TV. Seriously, this took forever!

Next, replacing the faucet in the half bath...

And finally, replacing the light fixture in the breakfast nook...whew!! Lots of work, little time.

Tuesday, October 28

Yes, we're alive. We moved this weekend. Craziness. Actually the packers and the movers did a great job. We couldn't be happier with them. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find the camera cord that will enable me to upload the photos from my camera onto my computer. So you will have to wait until this weekend to see all the pics from this past weekend. Sorry! Stay tuned...

Monday, October 20

Well, Chem Dry did a fabulous job with the carpets upstairs. They look amazing. I'm so glad we chose to have them cleaned and we didn't replace them. I hope we saved a ton of money and some of our sanity.

Aubrey painted the guest room last week. He took a couple of pictures of his progress to share with me while I was in Greenville. I finally saw it yesterday and it looks great.

This weekend was crazy. We went to dinner on Friday night at Lemongrass and prepared some goodies for the Clemson tailgate on Saturday. We had a good time at the game but are ready for some later kick-off times and some victories.

Sunday, we drove up to Charlotte to go to the Carolina Panthers game with Michelin. Yes, I know, two football games in one weekend is CRAZY. Here's us in the train (LYNX) on the way to the stadium. I'm such a fan of public transportation. Save on gas/environment, no traffic, what could be better?
The tailgate was nice and the game was interesting. I will have to say I had more fun people-watching than game-watching. Our seats were pretty high up and it was really hot in the direct sunlight. It was freezing down at the tailgate and then we got hotter the farther up into the stadium. Layers would have been a smart thing.

I was a little delirious when we left. Here I am with the panther. Please note the ginormous bucket of popcorn in the lower left corner. I asked Aubrey not to put the bucket in the pic... oh well. I love carbs!

We ended up leaving at half-time and did some "adult" errands. We found a new shopping center right near our house. They have all kinds of "big box" stores and some great boutiques. I spent way too much money at Target- thank goodness I had a gift card from my birthday (Thank you Debbie and Rick!).

Monday, October 13

Well, it's official. We're homeowners! We signed the papers on Friday morning and are happily burdened with tons of debt. Nice. Below is a picture of us on the way to the signing. My nose is not really this large in real life... Please see the large amount of junk in the backseat. Tammy (the Camry) was stuffed to the brim.
With our new keys!

First time unlocking OUR door!

That's where the silliness ended. Now, it was time to get to work!

Well, not exactly. First a toast to celebrate our new house!

Then we had to celebrate with our new TV!

At the paint store.... I got to be really good friends with the guys here. They even gave me a discount because I was there so much this weekend. It's hard picking colors you have to look at every day.

The painting begins...

Mom's attempt at painting the powder room....

The finished powder room!

The finished living room...

Camping in the lap of luxury.... after Mom and Steve left, we brought the other air mattress into our room. Two adults on one mattress- not so comfortable. One adult on one air mattress- heaven.

Well, that's all I have today. Aubrey is in Charlotte today meeting the carpet cleaners. More details to come soon. Talk to everyone soon!

October 9, 2008

Well, it all started with The Mercer's blog celebrating their new baby, Beau. Then I signed up for Facebook. Now, with the purchase of our first house, I've decided it might be fun to "blog" about this experience for all our friends and family to see.

We're closing on our house tomorrow (Friday 10/10) at 10 a.m. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I mean, this is it. We've been waiting for this moment for almost 4 years now. It's hard to believe we're finally here. Our new address will be 11147 Dundarrach Lane Charlotte, NC 28277. Yep, we're moving to NC!

Michelin is relocating us and I'm pretty excited. I'm still working in Greenville so we'll see how this is going to work. I'll post pictures nect week of all that happens this weekend.
